Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require all employers make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. This includes carrying out risk assessments, appointing a suitable amount of first aiders and providing appropriate first aid training.

Level 2

Award in Basic Life Support & Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (RQF) 

Designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or voluntary and community activities to provide basic life support (BLS) when dealing with an emergency which may involve using an AED.

  • ½ day course – Delegates will develop the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations & safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Topics covered include managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, using an AED on both adults and children, combining AED use with CPR and more.

This qualification can be delivered as a standalone course (minimum of 3 hours 40 minutes) or as a ‘bolt on’ (1.5 hours excluding breaks) to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.

Award in Basic Life Support and Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)

This qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, at home or in voluntary and community activities, to provide basic life support and manage anaphylaxis when dealing with an emergency.

  • 3-4 hour courseSuccessful delegates will attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: managing a casualty with anaphylaxis, CPR, common anaphylaxis triggers, signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis, treatment and more.

This qualification can be delivered as a standalone course (minimum of 3 hours 45 minutes) or as a ‘bolt on’ to other first aid qualifications that share the same assessment criteria.

 

Level 3

Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) 

These are nationally recognised and regulated qualifications. Specifically designed for those appointed to act as a first aider in the workplace. This course is also ideal for people who have responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.

  • Annual Refresher – ½ day course

Specifically designed to allow qualified first aiders to update their first aid skills yearly, until requalification training is required.

Delegates will leave with renewed confidence, having had the opportunity to practice essential first aid procedures, including: managing an unresponsive casualty, recovery position, CPR, choking and more.

  • Emergency First Aid at Work – 1 day course

Delegates will develop the skills & knowledge needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations including: managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, choking, shock, wounds, bleeding and minor injuries.

  • First Aid at Work – 3 day course 

Delegates will develop the skills and knowledge needed to deal with a range of first aid situations, including: assessing incidents, managing an unresponsive casualty, CPR, heart attacks, choking, head and spinal injuries, fractures, anaphylaxis and more.
